When I was in an university, I used lament that some of the male postdocs would openly look at porn on their laptops. I felt like that was inappropriate. If I could I would have blocked their habit, but alas I could not. However, now I have changed my mind.I would gladly run into a porn fiend, in exchange for Facebook and Fantasy Sports access. Repeatedly, I get the message seen above.
My argument, besides that free speech 1st amendment crap, is this: I would be a BETTER worker if I had full internet connection, because in my job longer hours correlates into more work product. Unlike television and shows like CSI, real biological assays take several hours. While waiting for these assays to finish I sometime will partake in a little internet frivolity. However, without full internet access, I want to go home and postpone what I have to do another day.

Same here! Not only are most sites blocked at work, including gmail or any sports-related news articles, but you only get 90mins of internet 'allowance' per day. Mistakenly leave Explorer open while you are working on something else, and you're screwed!!

stop wasting time on the internet. you're not getting any younger! (unless, of course, you are successful in discovering a cure for aging.)
This has a negative affect on me too, since I value ET#1s auto input on such topics as NYTimes style stories, music opinions, fitness updates and cooking adventures. I'll petition my congresspersons to get you access!!
